GEO Grid Data Beta contains ASTER Data Beta (format) and PALSAR Data Beta (format) in SIMS (user document).

ASTER OnDEM: ASTER On-demand DEM (Digital Elevation Model) Service

OnDEM

ASTER provides an excellent Digital Elevation Model (DEM) with a higher spatial resolution than SRTM, but the coverage of an individual scene is rather limited. For users of the three VOs administrated by AIST, we provide an On-demand DEM Mosaic (OnDEM) service, with which the users can construct their own seamless mosaics from ASTER DEM data by selecting the best scenes in their target areas.

Experiment of GEO Grid DEM/ortho Images Generation Services

DEM Processing service

Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) performs a biennial experiment to serve a generator of a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) based on satellite data in a virtual organization (VO) as part of the GEO Grid Project that the institute promotes. Throughout this experiment we aim to contribute a generation of a broad area DEM with high accuracy, which is base information of the earth science. First, we start the service for PRISM data. Other sensors on satellites and aircrafts will be targeted sequentially. more ... / 日本語

Public WMS Services

/PublicWMS

GEO Grid provides basemaps (Landsat, Blue Marble), scientific data, application results etc. as WMS service. Also simple viewer by GeoExt and more are provided.

Geological Hazards and Disaster Mitigation

GHZ

Main goal is developing GEO grid-based methodologies of mitigation applications for geological hazards and disasters such as earthquake, volcano, landslide, tsunami, flood, subsidence, etc. The integration of databases remotely obtained by multi-sensors and the relevant geological dataset with ground truth is the focus of development. The working group also aims at fostering the collaborations with various regional, national, and international partners involved in research and development on geology-related and disaster mitigation issues. more ..

QuiQuake: Quick Estimation System for Earthquake Maps Triggered by Observation Records

QuiQuake

Quick estimation system for earthQuake map triggered by observed records (QuiQuake) provides wide and detail strong ground motion maps such as peak ground velocity (PGV) and instrumental seismic intensity (INT) soon after an earthquake occurrence in and around Japan using combined usage of amplification capability map and observed seismic records. The maps whose spatial resolution is 7.5 arc-second in latitude and 11.25 arc-second in longitude (approximately 250m square) can help to support decision making for disaster response and business continuity planning (BCP) by municipalities and companies.

Volcanic Gravity Flow Simulations on Volcanic Area

Energy Cone

The volcanic gravity flow simulation program provides potential dangerous areas of volcanic gravity flows caused by volcanic eruptions and can contribute to create volcanic disaster mitigation maps for pyroclastic flows, pyroclastic surges and debris avalanches. An energy cone model is used for calculations of the maximum run out distances of volcanic gravity flows. The simulation program uses a digital elevation model based on ASTER satellite data with a spatial resolution of 15 m. The simulation is also applicable to another natural disasters such landslides. more ..

Environmentally Conscious

Environmentally Conscious

Towards the better understanding of the Earth, integration of satellite observations and ground-based observations is indispensable to improve scientific qualities of satellite data/products, as the former cover globally whereas the latter provide very detailed information of the Earth. Two services (Kushi, and Science DCP) have been already deployed. ECO, Environmentally Conscious, provides E-Infrastructure to virtually federate ground-based and satellite databases for this purpose. Two services (Kushi, and Science DCP) have been already deployed. more ..

CFreeVG10: Cloud Free VeGetation 10 days

CFreeVG10

SPOT Vegetation 10-days composite re-processed data are ready to distribute on GEO Grid. Time-series model filter (named Kalmfit developed by Sawada et al., 2005) was applied for the 10-day composite S10 data of SPOT/ VEGETATION, NDVI & NDII from April 1998 to December 2007. The covered area and spatial resolution are N5-55 and E68-148 degrees (South-East Asia) and approximately 30-arc-second in a pixel, respectively. more ...

SDCP: Science DCP (Degree Confluence Project)

SDCP: Science Degree Confluence Project

For a validation of satellite data with ground based measurements, a validation of satellite data with ground based measurements is indispensable for assessments of products such as Land Cover or DEM data. We have developed a satellite data validation system by combining a satellite DB with a ground-based DB which"DCP project"offers.
